THE HISTORY OF THE HAMBURGER

The hamburger most likely first appeared in the XIX century. Americans contend for being the first to combine two slices of bread and a steak of minced beef and sell it. The word comes from the city of Hamburg, in Germany, they were the Germans who introduced the hamburger shops named White Castle which were founded in Wichita in 1921 by the cook Walter Anderson. It isn’t known who invented the hamburger with certainty since many cooks claim having originated it. A hamburger is a sandwich consisting of one or more cooked patties of ground meat. Hamburgers are often served with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and condiment such as mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup.
